Miss Kristen Post At Last!!!
Hello to all my students from 3-8!
It's two weeks into the holidays now and I have to say that I miss you guys :( Yes, even the ones who used to make my day stressful like James and Daniel, lol, I miss you too. I hope everyone's enjoying the holidays as much as I am, though it can get pretty boring.
I'm playing the Sims 2 on the PC and Warriors Orochi on the PS2, as well as reading my books. I'm also cooking a lot and thankfully no one has gotten sick from my cooking (yet, lol). I'm also playing with my dog more and going out for swims with my friends. What are you guys doing this holiday? I hope you're less bored than I am XD I'll be going to Thailand soon! I can't wait! Too bad I can't make a video diary to show you guys in class like I used to.
Anyway I hope to keep this blog open so we all can keep in touch. Otherwise, you know my MSN and handphone number. Just because I'm not your form teacher doesn't mean I stopped being your friend. Call or message me if you need someone to talk to, if you have problems, or if you want to discuss why Sephiroth is just WAAAAAY cooler than Cloud Strife (Amos XD I'll always remember you for being a FFVII fan just like me). Anything also can, lah.
Oh, I'll be teaching P1 next year, so I'll be in the afternoon session. I'll pop by during your recess to say hi once in a while. Seeya guys! Study hard and do your best!!

Study Tips for our SA2s
Brushing Up on Your Study Skills
Study Tips - Roll Call
You are never going to do well on your exams if you never show up for class. Be sure to attend school as often as possible. And, take advantage of any tutorials or extra help your teachers offer. When you're struggling with a subject, any extra help you can get can make a a
Study Tips - Keep a Routine
Set aside a specific time to do your homework and studying every day. Whether that's right after school or after supper, a set schedule can often help you focus a lot easier. Don't try to fit your homework around socializing with friends. Homework should be a priority.
Study Tips - Shhhh!
If you can't find a quiet place to focus on your homework at your house, why not head to the library? Be sure you have as little distraction as possible when studying. Avoid watching TV, talking on the phone or playing music that makes you want to dance around the living room while doing homework.
Study Tips - Be Inquisitive
If you find that having a friend study for a test with you helps the most, why not make flash cards or make mini quizzes for one another to answer. The key is to make use of your study time and not turn the get-together into a video game marrathon or gossip session.
Study Tips - Write it Down
Keep all your notes from your classes and read them over, as well as your textbooks. Make note of things your teacher has said might be on your test so you can be sure to review it. If you're just reading straight from a textbook or novel for class, try reading aloud. Hearing yourself say it while you read often helps you to retain more of what you've read.
Study Tips - Ask For Help
If you are still struggling with forming good study habits, don't be afraid to talk to your teachers. Many schools have homework help available to you during lunch or after school. Your teachers may also be able to suggest tutors that you could work with.posted - 11:44 AM

Speed Painting!
Done on a computer program called Photoshop 7, using a tablet (a mouse in the shape of a pen). He took 5hr to complete this whole painting. The video has been fast-forwarded so you can see how the picture develops.
According to the artist Nico di Mattia on his website, "A speed painting is an experience that includes the fusion of many areas: the drawing, the painting, the cinema, the music, and the digital technologies. Its principal objetive is to try to entertain the spectator, taking him to an original world, where he could enjoy the genesis and the process of creation of an artistic piece."
Lesson to be learnt: Never give up on growing your talent! One day you may draw even better than this! ^__^

Long post!
Class News!
Ahh... feeling so sick lately. Cured from a cold on Wednesday only to end up eating bad laksa that gave me a tummy ache on Friday. So annoying. Oh well. I hope everyone enjoyed the Children's Day Concert! It was alot of fun - even though many people couldn't guess which baby I was except for a few of those in my class raising their hands, hehe. Enjoy the balls! Squeeze them if you're angry! ^_^
In other news, I have lots to post today, since I've been ill and haven't had time to update. Lets see... we have a comic recommendation by Ashraf, the answer to the silver star question - where four of you managed to win. Enjoy!

Comic Club!
Comic Recommendation by Ashraf
Title: Spider-man Adventures
Review: The comic is good because it does not have any bad words and it is so interesting because Spider-man meets the Fantastic Four! Then they were not friends with eachother but at the end they were still friends. The full story is inside the comic.
Where to get it: Any popular bookshop

Silver Star Question!
Question: What is the difference between an Aeroponics farm and a Hydroponics farm?
Answer: Both farms use water mixed with nutrients to grow the plants instead of soil. The aeroponics farm sprays this mixture of water and nutrients on the suspended (hanging in the air) roots of the plants, while the Hydroponics farm dips these roots in stagnant (not moving) mixture of water and nutrients.
Winners: Audry, Isaac, Crystal Toh and Clarice!

The Importance of Breakfast
Here is something fun to do in the mornings - on the weekend maybe? or before school? Anytime is cooking time!
Having breakfast is important - it's not known as the most important meal of the day for nothing! We know that our digestive system breaks down food into simpler substances. These substances are, as we know, called glucose (yes, the same simple sugar that is produced by plants through photosynthesis). This glucose is needed by the brain to work. If you don't have enough glucose in your body, your body needs to work harder to turn your fats or carbohydrates (nutrients found in yesterday's rice dinner) into fuel for your brain. So you will feel tired and won't learn as well. You might also faint from the hunger.
Here's a simple recipe you can try in the mornings for breakfast. If you have no time in the mornings, you can always cook the night before and heat them up before you go to school. Remember: Always ask an adult to help you during cooking, DO NOT OPERATE THE STOVE ON YOUR OWN.
Easy French Toast Sticks (Halal)
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 slices bread, each cut, lengthwise, into 4 pieces
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Maple syrup
PREPARATION:
Melt butter in skillet. Mix eggs, milk and vanilla in bowl. Beat well, soak slices of bread. Brown the soaked bread in skillet. Sprinkle with a little sugar and cinnamon and serve with maple syrup.posted - 9:37 AM

Silver Star Question
Another Silver Star Question! The previous one was the one on the squid. This one is on Social Studies, and if you can answer the following question correctly, you will get a silver star!
Question: What is the difference between an Aeroponics and Hydroponics farm?
Clue: Both farms grow vegetables without soil but... how do they grow these vegetables?
Good Luck!
